Levan Koguashvili's „Brighton 4th“ is Georgian bid for the International Oscar race

The film with 3 awards at Tribeca Film Festival, is a co-production with Bulgaria

Exactly a month ago the director Levan Koguashvili, together with part of the Bulgarian film crew, presented in person his newest film „Brighton 4th“ - with this premiere screening before the Bulgarian audience started the #Autumn edition of the anniversary 25th Sofia International Film Festival. In the International competition of the 20th Tribeca Film Festival, New York, where was „Brighton 4th“'s world premiere, the films received the prizes for Best International Feature Film, Best Screenplay and Best Actor (Levan Tediashvili). After that the film was selected at the festivals at Karlovy Vary, Haifa, Vancouver, Reykjavik and Antalya.

The new Levan Koguashvili's film tells the story of former wrestling champion Kakhi whose devotion to his family leads him on a journey from his home in Tbilisi to visit his son Soso in Brighton Beach, Brooklyn, and to help him with his problems with debts and mob bosses. This is a co-production between Georgia, Russia, Bulgaria, Monaco and USA, with the support of EA „Bulgarian National Film Center“; Bulgarian producer is Art Fest (Stefan Kitanov and Mira Staleva).

The DOP of the film is one of the greatest masters behind the camera in Hollywood - Phedon Papamichael, who worked with Alexander Payne, Wim Wenders, Oliver Stone, James Mangold, with whom he is currently shooting the next Indiana Jones-movie. The main roles in „Brighton 4th“ are entrusted to Levan Tediashvili (two-time Olympic and five-time world wrestling champion), Georgi Tabidze and Nadya Mikhalkova. The sound director is Svetlozar Georgiev, and the costume designer is Eka Bichinashvili. The executive producer on the Bulgarian side is Svetla Tsotsorkova.
