Black Box Germany steps back into German history, it shows the Federal Republic of Germany of the 70s and 80s. The country is polarized due to the power struggle of the German state and the „Red Army Fraction”. Wolfgang Grams, RAF terrorist, killed in a police shoot out in 1993 was thought to be part of the 1989 murder of high placed banker Alfred Herrhausen. This documentary interviews people close to Herrhausen and Grams showing what made them the people they became

Andres Veiel

Andres Veiel is born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1959. Whilst taking a degree in psychology he also studied directing and dramaturgy at the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin under Krzysztof Kieślowski. He directed his first documentary A Winternight's Dream in 1992, followed by Balagan (1994) and Black Box BRD (2002, winner of German Film Award and European Film Award). The Kick (2006) won the Grand Prix Cinéma du Réel. His feature film debut If Not Us, Who? premiered in the Berlinale in 2011 and won the Alfred Bauer Prize.
